Shrink Becca Update

Okay so I didn't update on Monday because holy cow that is a bad day to do an update. I think I am switching it to Wednesdays because from here on out I don't have ANYTHING on Wednesdays since Pediatric clinicals is over and Maternity clinicals is only one day a week for 12 hours. When I jumped on the scale, I was a little disappointed. I was only a half pound down from last week. I feel like these beginning pounds should be FALLING off since I wasn't doing any exercise before due to school and I was eating whatever I wanted (oh those were good times, but no more). But thankfully, I took measurements, but even the measurements didn't seem that awesome. A centimeter here, a centimeter there...that's not that big of a deal. I do measure in centimeters though because it makes you feel better instead of saying 'quarter inch' or 'half inch'.
Along with these measurements, I use this website:http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/bfb. When I started, I was 28.2% body fat (gasp!) and now I am 26% body fat (if you use the website, I average the Navy's percentage and the YMCA's percentage because they can be very different). To go a step further, I followed one of my fitness books which tells you to then take the percent of your body fat multiplied by your weight. (.26 x 144 lbs)= 37.44 pounds of fat. 144-37.44= 106.56 lbs of lean body mass. This is where it gets interesting. From 2 weeks ago when I was 27.2%, I had less lean body mass and more fat. So over the two weeks, I have lost 2.14 lbs of fat, and gained .6 lbs of muscle. That's rather exciting when you look at it that way.
This is good news, but I definitely need to be stricter on the nutrition. I was approximating eating between 1600-1800 calories a day, and then on the weekends I didn't really count or care and would eat cookies or cake 'in moderation.' But I think in order for me to get to my goal, I need to just cut them out altogether.
As for my exercising update, the Friday where I went to the gym with that guy was really fun. He was impressed but how much I challenged myself and how much weight I could lift! Then Saturday I ran 5 miles, Sunday was off, and Monday I did the elliptical for 50 minutes. I also decided to give Jillian Michael's 'Making the Cut' program a try. It gives you circuits to do in the gym and oh boy, I was dripping with sweat it was awesome. Plus, you look like you know what you are doing. =) Her program has gotten great reviews on Amazon and people really do say they lost those 'last ten pounds' as the book says it is only for. Some people who were my height and weight lost 11 pounds in a month! If it helps me drop 6, I'll be happy!

Off to the gym....

Ooooh, neat! That makes me feel much better since according to that website my body fat (averaged) is 24.72 percent. Sweet! That made my day. I'm a total athlete.
