People need to stop burning/blowing themselves up. In case you hadn't heard, it's apparently 'burn yourself for kicks' season. My first day back to work was Sunday, and normally, we may have 1-2 patients that are Burn patients. On Sunday, we probably had at least 10. I had 4 Burn patients alone. One man was upset that his girlfriend broke up with him, so he poured gasoline on his head and lit a match. He has 68% burns. Everywhere is burned...his hands, head, chest, arms...but I do feel bad for him. Why would someone think that's a good idea?
Another one got blown up in a meat farm. Another one got electricuted. And another person started having a lot of anxiety and depression so she didn't sleep for 5 days and decided lighting her arm on fire was a good idea. Hmmm...how about trying sleep?
There is also a FLDS family on the floor. So that's an extra 70 visitors sitting around, except we are trying to regulate that. The son that is injured from a car crash seems very sweet and normal, but the hair do's and dresses that the women wear are just creepy. I get goosebumps everytime I was by. And don't refer to their parents as 'mom' or 'dad', it's 'mother' or 'father.'
In other news, I almost died yesterday. I was driving my friend Jeff's truck to move all of my stuff. I was really nervous about driving that big of a thing, so I was driving very slow. I pulled into an intersection to make a left hand turn (with a left hand turn light, which is hard to come by in Utah!) and right as I get into the middle a car from the right zooms right in front of the head of my car. I'd say I was 1-2 feet away from it. If I was driving my Honda, I totally would've been killed. Phew! I don't even think that person realized they ran a red light.
Deep down, I think I am one of those people that is just a big geek inside. Evidence: As I was leaving class today, I put a Dasani water bottle on top of my hood as I heaved all my school crap in the back. I got in the car and sped away and heard a clunk. I also saw two girls laughing at me. Sad. The even more sad thing is that this has happened at least 3-4 times in my life. I feel like I'm the only one who ever does this. I'm special.

I've done it with books or folders on the roof of my car. When I saw papers flying around in my rear view mirror as I drove off, I instantly realized what I'd done and that cured me. What a pain!
I've left stuff on my car...in fact, I think it was a water bottle too. I felt so dumb. Funny but sad at the same time about the burn patients. What a way to make themselves feel better. They ought to try eating chocolate. Other than gaining weight and maybe getting diabetes (if eaten in large amounts) down the road it's much less damaging.
