Promotion

I am very excited to announce that I got a promotion at work. Unfortunately, I haven't been promoted to nurse manager. Dang. BUT, I was offered the position as a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). This basically means that I work at the front desk of my floor do the following:
-take all incoming admit charts and program them into the database
-take care of faxes and random paperwork
-answer phone calls
-program the beepers everyone wears and trackers for each shift
-order new supplies for the floor
-and a bunch of other cool stuff
The HUC is in charge of making sure everything on the floor is running smoothly and works with the charge nurse. I begin orientation tomorrow and Saturday and will continue orienting after my trip to California. I get paid $3-4 more an hour (which is a big difference!) and have to do less work than I am doing now as a CNA. I can wear scrubs or work clothes too. When my manager offered me the job she told me not to tell anyone for awhile because there's a lot of people that have been working there longer that would like the job, but she thinks I would be really good at it. Suckers!

Congratulations Becca! I know you're in nursing school but how much longer do you have? Do you know what unit you'd like to eventually work in? I've always wanted to be a nurse but I've had plenty of practice being on the other side as a patient (or mother of a patient)
